When I saw this image I knew exactly what I was going to see on my computer. This was not going to be an ordinary landscape shot. The leaves blowing as the snow fell and all the colors. It was going to be something surreal, something impressionistic. And I knew I was going to love it. I can feel the motion and it looks more like a painting then a photograph.

This photo was shot on snowy May 19th in Crested Butte CO. I was driving to the grocery store and noticed these tulips in a flower bed looking beautifully sad under the falling snow.

I took this photo on a very emotional day. I felt the need to memorialize the day with a photograph. When I walked out of the house and saw the long shadows and sun rays peaking through the trees I knew this was the shot. I did some post-processing in Lightroom and Perfect Effects 4 to soften the look and enhance the colors. I am happy with the end result. It feels ethereal and captures the mood and feelings i was having at that time. This photo was taken in Austin, MN.

This photo was shot during a morning walk with my dogs. I decided to bring my camera with me (I should always do that but I don't) because it was right after a nice snow storm. I see this scene all the time walking up the hill behind my house and I always love the way the river looks in the winter. I thought the texture and frame added a little more uniqueness to the image, giving it more of an old-time feel.

It was early morning last week and I was out walking my dogs across the street when I noticed this glowing tree. I ran into my house and grabbed my camera. The tree was pretty far away up the hillside but my 70-200mm worked it's magic and gave me a photo that expressed just how I felt looking at this funny, sparkling, glowing tree in the frosty morning.

I was motivated to get out and shoot the other morning and decided to drive to Peanut Lake to see if anything inspired me. I've looked at this scene many times but never have photographed it. I liked the hardness of the Gronk and the softness of the mountains behind it. My next mission will be to get this shot following our next big storm.

I spent a week shooting Iconic Images in Washington DC last Spring. It was an amazing week of shooting, getting up at 4am, visiting all the most iconic areas: memorials, buildings, everything! It was an experience I have never had, running around a city shooting endlessly, dealing with crowds, traffic, permits. I could have never done it without my two amazing assistants: thanks! I am looking forward to shooting the Iconic Images of many other cities in the future.

I am offering Mini-Portrait sessions and I would love to book you for a time slot on Saturday between 12-2pm. You can pick any 30-minute segment. The Mini-Session includes a 15-30 minute photo session and a Standard Digital CD with all your images printable up to 5x7. You will also receive a Password protected Web-album for viewing and sharing. From the web-album you can print larger prints or chose form any one of the many merchandise items including Holiday Cards, greeting Cards, Photos-on-Canvas or Gift Items. I spent a week photographing Washington DC this Spring. It was an amazing experience. I had been to Washington before but I had never seen it so intimately. We woke up every morning at 4am to get to our location before the sun rose. Finding the location was mostly easy at that hour, traffic was very light and I had a wonderful Guide book that helped with directing us to the perfect spot. Then it was back to the hotel for a late morning name and breakfast and back out around 3pm to fight the traffic and find the sunset location. It was a really fun trip.

I am looking forward to this Winter Season in Crested Butte. I am planning on doing a 365 days of shooting starting with the first of the year. But before that I will be focusing my time on the inAWE Gallery at 326 Elk Ave and my wedding photography. This weekend I will be at the Holiday Bazaar shooting Mini-Portraits. Happy Holidays!

Baby Portrait today! Baby Zoe is only 5 lbs- this was the week she was due. But she joined the world early and is sooooooo adorable! I am so excited to put her in cute Santa hats and big baskets! We were suppose to have a pregnancy photo shoot with mom but she ended up going to the hospital the day we were scheduled to do the shoot! Baby portraits are one of my favorite. They are so cute and sweet and although there might be some tears they are always so wonderful to work with.

A rainbow of light on a beautiful Fall day. With snow about to fly it is nice to be reminded of the beauty of the fall.
